Champagne Jacques Lassaigne
Emmanuel Lassaigne
Histoire

Story
Establishment : 1964
Surface : 4.7ha
Culture : Organic and Biodynamic Farming
In 1964, Jacques Lassaigne — father of the current owner, Emmanuel Lassaigne — was drawn to the land of Montgueux, the village where he was born, and started the domaine from scratch alongside his three brothers. It was a time when French wines were just beginning to attract worldwide attention.
From his father’s era, the use of chemicals was kept to a minimum. When Emmanuel took over in 1999, the vineyards were converted to organic farming. Today, no pesticides, fertilisers, or synthetic chemicals of any kind are used, and the grapes are tended with great care.
What sets this land apart from the surrounding plains is its distinctive chalky soil. Grapes grown in this exceptional terroir are vinified and aged plot by plot, with each parcel contributing its own character and adding complexity to the final blend. Extended ageing allows for the development of fine, delicate bubbles and intricate aromas.
With the exception of a rosé, the domain produces exclusively Blanc de Blancs — 100% Chardonnay. The reason is simple: Chardonnay is the variety that best expresses the terroir of this area. The wines are characterized by the grape’s naturally delicate flavors, lifted by a vivid minerality. To showcase the full potential of the village’s limestone soils, a vintage Champagne is also produced each year.

Story
