Originally from Anjou, Benoît trained as a sommelier before going on to study winemaking and viticulture in Beaune. It was there that he discovered natural wine, an encounter that would profoundly shape his path. He then spent three years at Domaine L’Anglore in Tavel, working alongside Eric Pfifferling, where he deepened his understanding of the importance of vineyard work, the philosophy of wines made in harmony with nature, and the dedication required in day-to-day life as a vigneron.
He eventually returned to his home region of Anjou in the Loire Valley, where he established his own domaine. There he cultivates traditional Loire varieties including Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Grolleau, and Pineau d’Aunis.
Above all else, Benoît places the vineyard at the heart of everything he does. From the very beginning, he has farmed without synthetic fertilizers or herbicides, embracing organic principles and incorporating biodynamic practices. Two horses work the land alongside him, while goats graze the vineyards through the winter months. People and animals together sustain the cycle of the land, living in true harmony with nature.
In the cellar, intervention is kept to a strict minimum, with the aim of crafting wines that faithfully express the character of both terroir and vintage.
Benoît’s talent is widely recognized. His wines have earned a devoted following among natural wine enthusiasts both in France and abroad, and can be found on the lists of Michelin-starred restaurants.
